Last night marked a beautiful start to the Pan Am Games. I was very fortunate to have been able to attend the Opening Ceremonies. What a great experience! So many memorable moments throughout: starting with the dance, music and costumes highlighting Canada’s multiculturalism, to Donovan Bailey dropping down from the rafters with the flame, to seeing the raising of the flags and, of course, the march of the Athletes. You could totally feel the excitement and anticipation as each country’s athletes entered the stadium! And talk about super proud moment when Team Canada entered!
As expected, Cirque de Soleil put on a visually beautiful show filled with their signature feats of strength, grace and creativity. Loved the acrobatics around and over the line of fire (we could actually feel the heat of the fire up in the nose bleed seats!). And the BMX bike tricks were a huge hit with the sold-out crowd.
All-in-all a fantastic night and start to the Pan Am Games! Looking forward to watching the games unfold and cheering on Team Canada!
